Biom
Biom to jednostka biologiczna zajmująca znaczną część powierzchni Ziemi i odznaczająca się jednorodnością cech. Jest to duży obszar o podobnym klimacie, na którym występuje charakterystyczna dla niego szata roślinna i świat zwierząt. Do typowych biomów zalicza się tajgę, tundrę, sawanny, pustynie, stepy, lasy tropikalne, lasy iglaste, lasy liściaste, a współcześnie również lodowce. Poszczególne biomy są oddzielone od siebie strefami przejściowymi o różnej szerokości.
