Łańcuch pokarmowy to liniowa sieć powiązań w sieci pokarmowej, począwszy od organizmów-producentów (np. rośliny, które wykorzystują promieniowanie słoneczne do produkcji substancji pokarmowych). Na szczycie znajdują się gatunki drapieżne (jak np. niedźwiedzie grizzly i orki).
Łańcuch pokarmowy pokazuje również, jak organizmy są powiązane ze sobą przez pożywienie.
